They say that there are large reserves of oil in certain parts of the northern region, so why not excavate some to have some? You see, petroleum is not a natural resource here in our country. While others are so much in need of water and have a large reserve of oil, ours is the other way around. We need to import oil for business and home use.

With the growing need of oil, it could be said that life without it could be so difficult. We also need oil to cook. Liquefied petroleum gas is a by-product of petroleum. Asphalt for example is also a by-product of petroleum. Roads here in the city are usually made of asphalt. Most of all, we all need oil to run our vehicles as we do not have those hybrid cars yet. We are so much dependent on this product. However, with the growing demand for it comes the increasing price of oil and its by-products, especially with all the chaos happening around the globe, particularly in the Middle East. As the price of oil increases, all the prices of commodities increase as well. Entrepreneurs always say that they will be the ones who will suffer if the will not act accordingly.

As I was driving to gas up this vintage car of mine, I was totally overwhelmed with the new price hike. It makes me want to commute instead, sacrificing the comfort of having my own ride. It really pisses off me. It's a good thing that we have gas pump girls who are so accommodating and all smiling. They brushed away the thought of me paying a higher price for gas for awhile. It is really a nuisance when you are already paying a high price and then you encounter these gas pump guys who are so curt and rude as if they are the ones paying for my gas. They do not even offer to wipe my windshield when they see that it is all covered with dust and dirt.

I hope our government officials could put their act together to somehow alleviate this problem of the oil price hike. It's time for us to maximize our resources and not depend so much on others.
